A day after Thanksgiving, Turkey was on the mind of President Trump – as well as a quick round of golf with Tiger Woods and Dustin Johnson.
Trump decided to continue his pursuit of peace in the Middle East by calling his Turkish counterpart early Friday.
“Will be speaking to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey this morning about bringing peace to the mess that I inherited in the Middle East,” he tweeted.
“I will get it all done, but what a mistake, in lives and dollars (6 trillion), to be there in the first place!” he added.
“After Turkey call I will be heading over to Trump National Golf Club, Jupiter, to play golf (quickly) with Tiger Woods and [golf pro] Dustin Johnson,:” he said in another tweet.
“Then back to Mar-a-Lago for talks on bringing even more jobs and companies back to the USA!”
Friday was the third day in a row Trump has spent at the golf course during his holiday at Mar-a-Lago, which he referred to Wednesday as the “Winter White House,” according to The Hill.
Trump — who regularly took shots at Barack Obama for playing golf as president — has spent many weekends at Trump-branded golf clubs during his first year in the White House.
He is playing his 76th round of golf since becoming president, according to Trumpgolfcount.com.
Trump and Woods have played golf together several times in the past, including last December at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., as president-elect, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Woods plans to return to competitive golf on Thursday at his tournament, the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, after missing most of 2017 recovering from back surgery and treating chronic back pain.
Johnson, the No. 1 player in the world, has five World Golf Championship victories, with only Woods winning more.
