A bloke has been dubbed the world's “unluckiest” after two extremely rare disasters happened to him in the space of three years. Known only as Matais, the bloke lives in Grand Canaria and has had a horrific run of bad luck. Calling in to the radio station, he admitted he was the owner of a car that went viral after footage emerged of it falling off the back of a ferry into the waters around La Gomera. And during the chat, where he revealed the car was a “limited edition 4x4,” he also claimed lava from a
volcano destroyed his home in 2021. He said: “As I am a frequent traveller, I travel in Gold Class and they park your car near the exit. I turned the wheel and put on the handbrake, like we always do. “I got out of the vehicle and went upstairs. When the boat leaves the port breakwater, the sea hits and I see the car floating in the water. I was in shock. The sea was very bad and, at the exit from the La Gomera pier, a wave came from the front. To that must be added, surely, a human error – they are accidents that happen.” And talking about his lava issues, without divulging where exactly he lives and what he's had to do to survive since then, he said: “Now I have a house under the lava and a car under the sea; except the lottery, I get everything. “Just like in the volcano: with what they were wearing, we had to go look for clothes, we were left without the laptop we used to work.” Fear not, however, as his car issues were quickly solved when three managers from the ferry company left him a replacement car and “they are going to take care of everything and more than that, as they have guaranteed me,” he said. Let's hope there are no black cats or cracked mirrors near him . . .
