The
Philadelphia Eagles and quarterback Jalen Hurts have agreed to a contract extension that will make him the highest-paid player in
NFL history, according to multiple reports Monday morning. The Eagles announced a deal, but did not disclose the financial terms. Hurts and the Eagles reportedly agreed to a five-year, $255 million deal, which features $179.3 million in guarantee salary. The deal also includes a no-trade clause, according to reports. Hurts new deal is larger than Cleveland’s Deshaun Watson $230 million contract in terms of average annual value. Watson’s fully-guaranteed deal, signed last year, remains the largest in terms of guaranteed money. Hurts deal also means his average new salary will be $51 million per year, eclipsing Aaron Rogers’ $49 million per season as the highest in the NFL. Hurts, 24, led the Eagles to the
Super Bowl last season. The fourth-year quarterback threw for 3,701 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also rushed for 760 yards and 13 touchdowns. The Eagles went 14-1 with him as a starter last season and he owns a 23-11 career record as a starter for the Eagles.
