Madonna’s ill-fated Madame X tour has been prematurely cut short due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Since hitting the road last year, the
Queen of Pop’s tour has hit a series of bumps in the road, including technical issues causing her to postpone several performances, as well as having the curtain brought down on her when her show ran late.
Most notably, she’s had to cancel a total of 11 shows due to an undisclosed painful injury which has affected her knee and hip.
With two shows left to go, it’s now been confirmed that the final performances of the Madame X show will no longer go ahead, due to action taken by the French government to prevent the spread of Covid-19.France has banned gatherings of more than 1,000 people, meaning the shows at the Le Grand Rex theatre – which has a capacity of 2800 – are no longer able to go ahead.
A statement shared on Madonna’s website read: “Following official notification from the Office of the Police this morning prohibiting all events with an audience attendance of over 1000, Live Nation regrets to announce the final two Madame X performances previously re-scheduled to 10-March and 11-March are forced to be cancelled.
“Tickets are refundable at point of purchase. We regret the disappointment to fans.”
Madonna has not commented on the final shows’ cancellation personally. View this post on InstagramA post shared by
