CRISTIANO RONALDO found one aspect of his move to
Juventus from
Real Madrid humiliating, according to reports in Spain.
Ronaldo joined Juventus from Real Madrid earlier this summer for £105million, quitting the Bernabeu after nine successful years in Spain.
The 33-year-old opted for a new challenge in Serie A after growing frustrated at Florentino Perez’s refusal to grant him pay parity with Lionel Messi and Neymar.
Cristiano Ronaldo is currently preparing for his Juventus debut, which will be against Chievo later this month.
Yet Spanish newspaper Marca say the Portugal international felt Real humiliated him before his departure.
At £105m, many feel Juventus have bagged themselves a bargain.
They are signing a player who has spent the last decade dominating world football, scooping five Champions League titles in that time.
Ronaldo’s arrival has been seen as a major pulling point for Italian football, after years of languishing behind the Premier League, La Liga and Bundesliga.
But Marca say Ronaldo found his £105m price tag humiliating - particularly given Real’s interest in his potential replacements.
Los Blancos were willing to spend around £300m to sign Neymar earlier this summer.
However, Ronaldo thought that was too much.
He also reportedly thought Perez could have done more to keep him, particularly after his comments about Luka Modric.
Modric is wanted by Inter Milan but Perez recently reminded clubs of his huge £668million release clause.
He said: “The only possibility that Modric leaves is by paying 750m euros (£668m.”
It was a different case with Ronaldo, though, with Real choosing to register a profit of just £25m on their all-time leading scorer.
