fire DESTROYED
Germany’s biggest theme park
Europa-Park and left seven injured.
The huge blaze ripped through Europa-Park, - Europe’s second largest amusement park – as smoke and flames billowed hundreds of feet into the air.
Almost 200 firefighters battled with the theme park inferno in
Rust, in south-western Germany.
Seven emergency rescue officers were injured, but left hospital after receiving medical treatment.
The fire is now extinguished after firefighters worked through the night to tackle the flames.
More than 25,000 visitors were on site when the fire broke out and many top rides, including the attractions " The Pirates of Batavia " and "Norway”, were destroyed.
According to the park, the fire broke out in a warehouse and then spread to the adjacent attraction "The Pirates of Batavia”.
Europa-Park’s official Twitter account tweeted: “Dear visitors, at present there is a fire at the attraction ‘The Pirates of Batavia’. Please avoid the Scandinavia area. We will get back to you shortly. Thank you.”
Astonishingly the park re-opened again for visitors at 9am today.
