The television and radio host said he was ordained to oversee the ceremony just 48 hours prior.Steve Harvey officiated the marriage of television host and actress Maria Menounos and her fiancé Keven Undergaro in a surprise ceremony on Fox's New Year's Eve broadcast from Times Square on Sunday.
Harvey presided over the ceremony after he was ordained to officiate the nuptials only 48 hours earlier, he said early in the telecast. Though wedding took place in 12-degree weather in New York City's Times Square, Menounos wore a long-sleeved lace bridal gown, designed by Pronovias. She used the hashtag #coldestbridever in her Twitter announcement of the ceremony.
"I got to spend the last 20 years with the greatest human being I have ever known. Maria, you are a blessing not just to my life, but to this whole world," Undergaro said in his vows.
"You've loved me, you've cared for me, in sickness and in health," Menuounos said in hers. "Honestly the way you helped me and my family in these hard times, i just wanted to marry you so bad."
Menounos, Harvey's co-host on the Fox telecast, officially announced the wedding early on in the program, and revealed it to her parents later on. Menuounos told viewers that she decided to wed Undergaro on New Year's Eve after she and her mother underwent brain surgery for separate brain tumors in 2017. "We couldn't think of a better way to end a rough year than to end it on a high note and start fresh," Menuounos said.
Fox's Sunday night broadcast marked Harvey's first time as a New Year's Eve host, though he has previously hosted the Miss Universe pageant for the network. Music artist Pitbull has hosted Fox's New Year's Eve telecast from Miami for the past three years.
In addition to Menuounos' wedding, the telecast also featured performances from Maroon 5, Celin Dion, Backstreet Boys, Macklemore featuring Skylar Grey, Flo Rida, the Zac Brown Band, Neil Diamond and Andra Day and celebrity appearances from Jamie Foxx and Modern Family actor Rob Riggle.
