The fluffy intruders were spotted sauntering across the A1307 near Hemingford Abbots on Sunday afternoon (April 7). Drivers had no choice but to stop as the alpacas seemed to believe they had right of way. Suzanne Schreiber, 56, was en route to an eyelash appointment when she encountered the herd blocking her path. Ms Schreiber, a resident of St Ives said: "It was definitely not what I was expecting to see. Read more: Towering pile of rubbish appears in Cambridgeshire village 'for second time' "Luckily it's only 40 miles an hour along that dual carriageway so I had plenty time to see them and then stop." Despite the delay, Ms Schreiber managed to continue her journey after a few minutes, saying: "They were super cute and had I realised they weren't spitting ones, I might have shooed them off the road." Thankfully the farmer was able to round up his herd and there were no injuries (Image: © Victoria Cordova SWNS) Another driver alerted the police, but the farmer responsible for the alpacas had already arrived to round up the alpacas. A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire
police confirmed: "We were called at 2pm yesterday with reports of alpacas in the road on the A1307, Hemingford Abbots.
