From crushing inflation to the dangers of the wide-open southern border, Montana families are rightfully concerned with the direction of our country. In fact, the southern border now tops the list of concerns for Americans with 78% considering it a national crisis. Well, President
Joe Biden has made his priorities clear, but they don’t reflect what’s important to Montanans’ or the
American people for that matter. Instead of keeping the secure border he inherited from President
Donald Trump, Biden reversed commonsense policies like “Remain in Mexico” that required asylum seekers to wait in
Mexico for their
immigration court date instead of being released into our country with the swoop of his pen. Instead of building the
border wall, Biden is spending one billion dollars from the “Inflation Reduction Act,” which every
Senate Democrat voted for, to build solar panels and electric vehicle charging stations at the southern border. Instead of deterring illegal immigrants from coming to our country, Biden’s administration admitted to transporting over 300,000 illegal immigrants on planes to over 40 different American cities. Under Biden, there have been nearly nine million illegal crossings, over 300 illegal immigrants who appear on the terror watchlist apprehended at the border, and thousands more encountered from countries that are listed as state sponsors of terror. This isn’t just a massive policy failure, it’s a serious national security threat. And to make matters worse, every single Senate Democrat is in lockstep with Biden’s open border agenda, even going so far as voting to allow illegal immigrants to be counted for congressional redistricting purposes. This is nonsense, and it diminishes Montanans’ voting power. The truth is, the president doesn’t need an act of
Congress to clean up the mess he’s created. He simply needs to pick up the pen he used to start this crisis and put an end to it. And if he won’t listen to me and my
Republican colleagues, it’s time my Democrat counterparts in Congress step up and tell the president that if he doesn’t act now, it’s no longer a question of “if” but of “when” we will see a
terror attack on American soil. It's little wonder Biden’s recent approval ratings are at a dismal 38%. He’s giving Jimmy Carter a run for his money, and he still refuses to reverse course. For the sake of Montanans and families everywhere, it’s time Biden stops focusing on his own political crisis and does his
Job to secure our homeland.
