Residents of Laceby have petitioned North East Lincolnshire Council about a parking problem that is creating havoc. The residents' petition asked the council to take village parking seriously and called for action to solve the problem "as a matter of urgency before any serious incidents occur". The petition said parking around the village "is making the area unsafe for both pedestrians and drivers". It was received by Cllr Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for environment and transport, at a meeting earlier this week. He commissioned a report to make recommendations on how to address the parking problem. He summarised the petition as having come about because of the parking of the garage's staff in adjacent streets. The staff had every right to park in the nearby streets, he added. A key Laceby road has become particularly affected by parking. "The Grimsby Road coming out of Laceby is basically alive with cars," Cllr Hasthorpe said, and the parking situation was "creating havoc". Join the FREE Grimsby Live
