Gogglebox and Celebrity Big Brother stars have been sharing their messages of condolences following the tragic death of Geroge Gilbey, aged 40. His death was confirmed on Wednesday (March 28), reportedly following an accident at work that morning. Essex
police said they were called to an incident in Shoebury in Southend-on-Sea on Wednesday, where a man had died after falling from a height. A spokesperson for the force said: “We received a report of an incident at Campfield Road in Shoebury at around 10am this morning (March 27), during which a man who was working at height had fallen and sustained an injury. "The ambulance service including air ambulance were in attendance. Sadly, the man died at the scene. We will continue liaising with partners including the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Some of the Gogglebox cast past and present have also been paying tribute. Simon Minty, who stars on the show alongside his stser Jane, said on Instagram: "So sorry to hear this. I really enjoyed watching George. Condolences to Linda and family." Stephen Webb, who quit the show last year, shared: "Very sad, sending our love to Linda and family." His mum Linda is said to be "in bits" following the news of George's tragic death. A close pal has said his beloved mum Linda has been left devastated. "First, she lost Pete, now her son as well," they told The Sun. "She is incredibly emotional. George was like her little treasure." George's stepdad Pete died suddenly in 2021 aged 71, days after being told he had six months to live after being diagnosed with bowel
cancer. Linda said at the time that her son had been left "really cut up" as she added: “Pete was a lovely man and I was so lucky to have him for 25 years. I said to him, ‘We’ve not only been 25 years, it’s been day and night with each other. He was my life. “I have a message from a young lad I know who said, ‘Ordinary people won’t be remembered, but we’ll remember Pete forever - like the pyramids.' I thought that was beautiful. He was so proud of George when he was in Big Brother too. Him and George really loved each other, George is really cut up."
