Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for March 27th, 2024. As Wednesdays go, it’s not a bad one today. A little bit of news, which we’ll get to first. After that, some new releases, and at least a couple of them are good. We’ll summarize all of those, and then finish things up in the usual way by checking out the new sales of the day and the soon-to-disappear discounts. Let’s get into the goodies for the middle of the week! It seems the trio of games added to the Game Boy Nintendo Switch Online app earlier this month aren’t manning March alone after all. Those who have a Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack subscription will be able to add a Game Boy Advance title to the selection to close out the month, and it’s none other than launch title . The new game will be available on Friday, allowing you to spend your Easter weekend in the traditional manner: ignoring your family and playing video games. The original saw you serving as a bouncer at various clubs and venues in a dystopian version of the
United Kingdom. This sequel uses the same basic gameplay conceit but switches settings to a dystopian version of the
United States. Okay, look. . Anyway, this is not one for those folks who would rather not deal with politics in their games, because it’s not particularly interested in mincing words about how it feels about such things. I’m pretty sure Mikhail’s going to be reviewing this one, so do look forward to that. I don’t understand the choice of names here. This is , or rather the original Japanese version of translated into English. The game is known in
Japan as , so… okay. But why go with this name here and call the sequel ? Why not use the same name for both? Mysteries! But what a mystery is the quality of this game, one of the better latter-day NES releases. This “ " adds in a rewind feature, save states, rapid-fire, and some achievements. There is also a new speed run mode that times you, allowing you to measure your best times against other players. This game is worth ten bucks even without any additions, in this writer’s opinion. Here’s an RPG that seems to be inspired by the likes of , and that’s not a bad place to draw ideas from. You’ve got some interesting characters, a time-skipping plot, a crafting system, and battles where you have to break the enemy’s guard. That last thing seems to be all the rage these days. I haven’t had a chance to go hands-on with this one yet, but I’m hoping to be able to review it soon. It certainly looks promising, and that’s enough to catch my eye these days. I’m kind of fascinated by the fact that there is a small sub-genre of games that are basically visual novels with drink-mixing mechanics. Here is another one, focusing on a Taiwanese coffee house. Brew the coffee just right and steep yourself in the stories and characters who come to enjoy it. There are plenty of endings to discover based on your actions and choices, lending some replay value to the whole affair. Mikhail loves coffee; I wonder if he’ll check this out? A small list of new sales today, but you might find something in it if you’re inclined to. The outbox has more of interest in it, with sales from Inti-Creates, Circle, and more coming to a close. I’d recommend taking a careful look through all of it just to make sure there aren’t any sales there you would regret missing out on. Friends. Tomorrow is Thursday, and it is looking like a king-sized fellow this week. I see no less than twenty-five games on the schedule tomorrow, so wish me luck on dealing with that. We’ll also have whatever sales and major news items roll in during the next twenty-four hours to fill things out a bit. I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday, and as always, thanks for reading!
