Sainz's future at
Ferrari is uncertain as his contract is not being renewed and
Lewis Hamilton has been chosen to race alongside Leclerc instead. Despite this setback, Sainz has shown resilience. He missed the
Saudi Arabia race due to appendicitis but managed to secure a podium finish in Bahrain and even won the
Australian Grand Prix just two weeks after his surgery. His impressive performances have caught the attention of top F1 teams and Leclerc revealed that Sainz has been in discussions with several of them. "I think everybody knows Carlos' worth in the paddock - he's one of the highest-rated drivers in the paddock," said Leclerc. "He's been extremely strong every time he was in a Formula 1 car. And he has shown it multiple times. So I don't think he's underrated for that. I think everybody knows Carlos' worth.", reports the Mirror . He doesn't say it, but for sure they are speaking with him. And I'm sure he will have many opportunities and he'll just have to make the best choice for his career." Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has hinted that Carlos Sainz could be a potential replacement for Lewis Hamilton in 2025. Speaking in Melbourne, he said: "There are a few options that we play with... Carlos is very good," the Austrian said in Melbourne. Meanwhile, Red Bull's Sergio Perez has started the new season strongly, despite feeling the pressure. His position remains secure for now, but team manager Christian Horner is keeping an eye on all available options, including Sainz. Horner stated: " We want to field the best pairing we can with Red Bull Racing so, sometimes, you've got to look outside the pool as well. The market is reasonably fluid in certain parts." He added: "I mean, based on a performance like that [from Sainz], you couldn't rule any possibility out. So I think, we just want to take the time and, obviously, Checo was compromised today and has had a great start to the season too so we're not in any desperate rush."
