Spain holidays have been warned they face flight chaos and potential delays if travelling over the Easter weekend. Rail strikes scheduled for the long Bank Holiday weekend are tipped to make holiday traffic on the roads worse from Good Friday to Easter Monday . If you thought you'd avoided what could be a jammy time on the UK's motorways by heading abroad, then you may face another issue. Strike action and maintenance work this week is likely to impact those travelling through Palma Airport in Majorca. The industrial action began on March 22 and is due to run until March 31, Travel Weekly reports . Turkey, Greece and Spain The airport disruption may throw a spanner in the cogs of a holiday this weekend ( Image: PA) Even if a solution is found, the popular Spanish airport is facing disruption from construction. Earlier this month Jet2 warned of longer waiting times due to maintenance work. The impact of the works - which will see some flights temporarily moved to Terminal A from March 27 - will likely be felt by the passengers in the country's third busiest airport, which handles 30 million passengers a year. The dual issues have led Jet2 and TUI to release warnings to holidaymakers who are heading to the airport this week. A TUI email to customers read: "The security screening company, Trablisa, has begun an unannounced strike which is expected to continue until March 31. This may lead to longer queues and waiting times at security checkpoints. There is a possibility that your flight could be delayed due to security screening delays. The company issued a statement which read: "Due to this ongoing work you may be waiting slightly longer than normal to clear
immigration in both departures and arrivals, our friendly customer helpers will be on hand to help." This week is not the first time that Brits have faced airport issues when heading out to the island. Back in 2022, weary tourists arriving at Palma de Majorca Airport said they were taking an average of nearly three hours after landing to reach the coaches waiting to take them to hotels. The problem was blamed mainly on a lack of
police at passport control, especially on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays when most of the flights bringing in package holidaymakers land in Majorca. The long delays at passport control had a knock-on effect, leading to people arriving at their hotels much later than planned. Since the UK left the EU, those wielding
