Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kid’s TV is a new four-part documentary series about the behind-the-scenes action at Nickelodeon in the late 1990s and 2000s. Former Nickelodeon child stars shared their stories in the documentary that dives into the reality of working in TV as a child actor. Drake & Josh, Drake Bell, waived his anonymity to share his story of abuse. He claimed last month he had been the anonymous teen whose accounts led to the conviction of vocal coach Brian Peck’s for
Sexual Abuse. According to a case summary from
Los Angeles County Superior Court, Peck pleaded no contest to two counts of sexual abuse. Peck was sentenced to 16 months in
prison. Drake claims it was the first time he’d ever spoken about it outside of therapy. The documentary also alleged a number of actors and people working in the industry wrote letters of support for Brian Peck during his trial. Bell recalled that he had been "shocked" that the "entire side of the courtroom was full" of Peck's supporters. The four-part series featured other child actors, including Zoey 101’s Alexa Nikolas, All That’s Giovonnie Samuels, Kyle Sullivan, Bryan Hearne, as well as writers Christy Stratton and Jenny Kilgen, among others. The documentary aired on the US channel Investigation Discovery. Since the four-part documentary's release, Dan Schneider appeared in an exclusive interview to address the stories and claims made about toxic work environments for child actors and crews in the series. The interview was conducted by
Actor and friend BooG!e, who played T-Bo in the Nickelodeon show iCarly. Schneider said: "Watching over the past two nights was very difficult — me facing my past behaviours, some of which are embarrassing and that I regret. I definitely owe some people a pretty strong apology." He added: "I apologize to anybody that I ever put in that situation, and even additionally, I apologize to the people who were walking around video village or wherever they happened, because there were lots of people there who witnessed it who also may have felt uncomfortable."
