Allan has come under
fire over over the the use of VAR in the Scottish Premiership with a string of bosses raising concerns over the use of the technology - and the 56-year-old will leave his post at head of referee operations in the summer after four years in the role. And ahead of the announcement, temperatures appear to have been raised during crunch talks on Sunday. The Sun report that SFA chief executive Ian Maxwell was in attendance for a meeting with SFA chief governance officer Gary Booth - with a “stormy” atmosphere during the talks that sparked “raised voices”. The search for Allan's successor is now underway with Hampden bosses said to be keen on an “experienced" candidate to be in place for the new season. Scotland supremo Fraser Wishart said: “We feel it’s absolutely vital that players’ views on VAR are taken into consideration. Since it was introduced the players haven’t been asked what their views on it are, so we’re going to go ahead and do it and feed the responses back to the SFA." Maxwell has stated that he hopes to tackle the "blame culture" surrounding the use of VAR amid the shake up. He said: “We must work together to alleviate unsustainable pressure on match officials and VAR operators, to remove the convenient blame culture attached to subjective or unpopular decisions.
