police detention officer may have come as a surprise. The approach at Grimsby's Birchin Way custody suite sees detainees treated as 'guests' rather than criminals. It is also one of Britain's busiest facilities, as the £14 million custody centre sees around 6,000 people processed every year. Viewers of the show had an insight into the daily routines of dry-witted and snack-obsessed officers responsible for the safe processing of unpredictable detainees, and now they have the chance to join the team. Humberside Police has advertised positions for detention officers that would work at Grimsby's Birchin Way and Hull's Clough Road custody suites, and earn between £22,677 to £25,353 a year.
