The German legend is now boss of South Korea and is heading to Ayrshire on Sunday to get a flavour of how striker Oh Hyeon-gyu is getting on with the Hoops. Postecoglou doesn’t know much about the famous pastries on offer in these parts but he does reckons his frontman has been looking tasty since his arrival in Scotland in January. When asked if he’d sampled the famous delicacy, the Aussie laughed: “No mate, is there some peculiarity that distinguishes it from other pies? If I get the chance, I will. Post game mate, not during.” Postecoglou reckons Klinsmann should have plenty to get his teeth into though as Celtic look to hammer home the advantage following last week’s mammoth Premiership win against Rangers . Oh is likely to get his chance at some stage and the manager reckons the striker’s development will be boosted by playing for a former Germany strike legend – as opposed to an average Aussie footballer. He’s going to continue to develop. That was his first international camp with Jurgen and he mentioned he was keen to come over and watch him and that the Kilmarnock game would fit in. Hopefully he enjoys the game and I’m sure Oh will get the chance to impress." As for playing under a legendary frontman being good for Oh as well as Celtic? Postecoglou joked: “As opposed to playing under an ordinary left full back on a weekly basis… “Look, international Football in itself is great for players. I’ve worked at that level and it gives players a real different challenge to whatever league they play in. It can only help Oh’s development and with Jurgen also being a striker that’s going to be a benefit. “But I think the biggest benefit is just playing international football because you get challenged playing against all different kinds of defenders in different formations. All that can only help a player’s development. Jurgen was a big figure in the global game. He was an outstanding striker and he really made an impact wherever he played. “He is one of those guys who played in most of the big leagues, Germany, Italy, England and made a massive impact. He’s had some pretty big jobs as a manager as well so he’s one of the big figures in world football.” Postecoglou is taking his time with Oh as the 21-year-old is very much seen as one for the future at Parkhead. The attacker is playing a role right now but it’s Kyogo who is hogging centre stage. Postecoglou believes the new boy can learn just as much from the Japanese fans favourite as he can from Klinsman. He said: “I think so. Obviously Kyogo is a bit more mature but he’s a player who has come from the other side of the world and I think it gives Oh great confidence to know that just because you come from a different culture or upbringing doesn’t mean you can’t make a big impact. “I’m sure he’s learning off Kyogo in his own way, seeing how hard he works on a daily basis and how hard he works for his team. That will help him in his development as a footballer. “The big guy has done really well since he joined us. He embraced the culture, the club, the league, everything. You can see how determined he is to be success. I think he’s going to be a very good footballer for us.” The rest haven’t done too badly either, with Celtic 12 points clear in the Premiership and starting to see the title silverware sparkle on the horizon. Celts need just another handful of wins to secure a second league crown on the spin and Postecoglou is a man in a hurry. Following the mayhem of last week’s Old Firm game, now comes the challenge to avoid any slip up on the Rugby Park plastic pitch. Postcoglou isn’t a fan of the surface – but he’s an admirer of his opponents, particularly on their own patch. He said: “I’m not a fan of it (the astro) because it changes the game. But ultimately that’s the challenge that’s there. To be fair to Kilmarnock we played them pretty early on in the piece and Derek McInnes has certainly had more time to get them to adjust to Premiership football since then and their form at home has been strong. I think it will be a really tough challenge for us. “Their home form is really strong and they are fighting for their Premiership status. But we have been really good all year on focusing on who our next opponent is and making sure we are ready for what’s in store for us. We know if we can play our football and bring our energy and intensity to the game that we can then we are hard to stop.” That’s been the case all season but now the campaign is heading for the home stretch. On Grand National day, Celtic are looking to clear one of the few remaining hurdles but don’t expect any tips from the Hoops boss. Postecoglou said: “Not my field, unfortunately. I do apologise. But if the jockey is wearing green, go for that!” READ NEXT Read More Related Articles Japan boss wants to build Celtic bridges with Ange as he pleads for 'friendly relations' amid Hatate and Kyogo snubs Read More Related Articles SPFL swerve potential Scottish Cup final headache as playoff dates revealed with caveat over Inverness double header Read More Related Articles Henry McLeish blasts SPFL gambling ban stance as 'match made in hell' fuelled by financial desperation Read More Related Articles Reo Hatate Celtic injury latest as midfielder and Liel Abada get timeline for return amid weekend absence Read More Related Articles Kyogo wanted Celtic hattrick against Rangers as grateful Parkhead hero reveals the key to derby delight Story Saved You can find this story in My Bookmarks.
