"We decided that, in September, not a lot goes on around here and we wanted to give people something to enjoy before Summer ends. We also wanted to create something that was just for adults so they could turn up and not have to worry about kids or anything." He added: "A few people have asked us to do something like this for a while now too. There is a similar event in Cleethorpes, but it's mainly for families whereas we know a lot of people wanted one just for adults. They kept asking so we just thought why not see where it takes us?" To make sure they appealed to as many people as possible, Lloyd and the team felt going down the indie and Brit Pop band route was the best way forward. "We thought this is what most people would want to listen too. The reaction so far has been great and we think everyone will be really up for it, I'm just so excited to see where this goes. Meridian Rocks will showcase some of the best tribute bands and provide a wide range of other entertainment, including fairground rides "I've got high hopes for it and I think we'll get a few thousand people there." Should all go to plan, the team are hoping to make the event a yearly attraction in Cleethorpes. The
music will be held in open air venues with fairground rides, bars and even food stalls. "We're hoping to get local bands to play in the VIP section too so if bands would like to be part of it we'd love to hear from them," said Lloyd." Aside from the tribute acts, there will also be a guest appearance from 90s superstar Bez. "We were putting it together and all of us thought it would be nice to get a real person on there too. We thought about who would be great for a crowd and who would people want to see at this type of event? That's when we came up with the idea of Bez. "As soon as we asked him he was really up for it too which is great. He's seen what we're trying to do and has jumped on board with it. All tickets can be purchased from the Meridian Rocks website from Friday, 31 March.
