The Academy Award winning actress underwent a huge transformation for her role, which included having make-up applied that made her look gaunt.
Nicole sported a short dark wig and ditched her glamorous attire for a comfy t-shirt and loose jeans.
The mother-of-four seemed to adjust to her new look well as she was pictured smiling while strolling on set in Los Angeles.
In Destroyer, Nicole plays Erin Bell, a police detective who reconnects with people from an undercover assignment in order to make peace.
As well as filming for her new movie, out in 2018, the 50-year-old has also been seen on the hit HBO show Big Little Lies.
The series has dominated the 75th annual Golden Globes with six nominations, including Best Television Limited Series and Best Supporting Actor.
Nicole, who plays Madeline Mackenzie in the show, will go up against her co-star Reese Witherspoon for Best Actress.
Fantasy drama Game of Thrones received just one nomination for Best Television Series Drama.
While Netflix hit The Crown and Fargo both received two.
The Golden Globes Awards will be hosted by Seth Meyers and will air January next year on NBC.
