Manchester United vs Liverpool simulated to predict Premier League clash - with late drama again
After suffering late heartbreak against Chelsea on Thursday, Manchester United will be looking to put things right with three points against Liverpool today. Despite leading the game in the 99th minute, two extremely late Cole Palmer strikes saw United fall to a 4-3 defeat against Chelsea in their last Premier League outing, leaving Erik ten Hag's side sixth in the table and 11 points off the Premier League top four. It's the second time in a week that United have dropped points late on, and an even tougher test awaits Ten Hag's side today as they take on Liverpool. Amad scored in the 121st minute to help United to a 4-3 win the last time the two sides met, securing a spot in the FA Cup semi-finals for his side. Ten Hag has been dealt some potential defensive blows ahead of the clash, with Jonny Evans and Raphael Varane both coming off injured against Chelsea, just a few days after Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof were ruled out. Let's take a look. We simulated Man United vs Liverpool to get a score prediction To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 24 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions. We predict that United could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Onana; Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Amrabat; Mainoo, McTominay, Fernandes; Antony, Hojlund, Garnacho. We predict that Liverpool could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Kelleher; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Endo, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister; Salah, Nunez, Diaz . Like the FA Cup clash a few weeks ago, United started on top, with Caoimhin Kelleher being forced into making a handful of saves in the opening 20 minutes. United weren't able to take advantage of their early domination, and just after the 30-minute mark, Liverpool made it 1-0. Darwin Nunez made it 1-0 to Liverpool (Image: EA Sports) After Luis Diaz beat his man down the left, the Colombian fired a pass into the middle where Wataru Endo and Alexis Mac Allister exchanged passes to surge forward through the middle. Mac Allister picked out the run of Darwin Nunez who slipped past Harry Maguire with ease, and a composed strike from close range put the Reds a goal ahead. Mohamed Salah has made a habit of scoring against United since his arrival on Merseyside, and he should've doubled the lead in the 41st minute when his well-timed run was picked out by Virgil van Dijk, but one-on-one, his shot was weak and easily saved by Andre Onana. A bit like United in the opening stages, Liverpool were made to pay for their collection of missed chances, with Ten Hag's side drawing level on the stroke of half-time. Rasmus Hojlund made it 1-1 before the break (Image: EA Sports) As Liverpool were dispossessed on the edge of the United box, Kobbie Mainoo picked out Rasmus Hojlund's bursting run forward with a fantastic long ball as the striker beat the high line. A great first touch saw Hojlund take the ball in his stride, and his strike was put high into the top corner to make it 1-1. With the game in the balance, both sides started to be more cautious with the ball, with neither side willing to try anything risky. Three points are vital for Liverpool's title hopes, and in the 91st minute, the Reds grabbed the winning goal. Luis Diaz grabbed the winner in the 91st minute (Image: EA Sports) Liverpool threw everything at United in the closing stages at Old Trafford and a moment of brilliance from Diaz saw the winger cut in from the left, evading two challenges in the box before firing home, with Onana only able to get a leg to the ball. EA FC 24 pre dicted final score: Man United 1-2 Liverpool What do you think the final score will be? Let us know in the comments!
