It's currently advantage
Liverpool in the
Premier League title race, but one or two false steps could hand initiative back to their main rivals. There are only three points separating Liverpool at the top from third-placed
Manchester City - with
Arsenal sandwiched between them and nine matches to play. Liverpool overcame Brighton on Easter Sunday - shortly before a 0-0 stalemate between City and Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium - and there is a full Premier League programme to look forward to in midweek. City take on Aston Villa on Wednesday night while Arsenal meet Luton Town. With an extra day to rest, Liverpool - similarly to the other two title-chasers - boast home advantage against Sheffield United and are heavy favourites to pick up another three points. Wataru Endo and Darwin Nunez have picked up eight yellow cards in the Premier League this season. Any player who receives 10 cautions - before a certain point - will have to serve a two-game suspension. The cut-off for that ban comes after the 32nd matchday. Liverpool have played 29 games so far. The Reds take on rock-bottom Sheffield United,
Manchester United and Crystal Palace in their next three fixtures. Should either player receive two bookings across those matches, card-happy Endo and Nunez would then have to sit out two games - with top fur challengers
Tottenham and Villa among the opponents to come for Liverpool. Signed as part of a midfield rebuild at Anfield last summer, Endo has become increasingly important for Liverpool over recent weeks at the base of midfield, while Uruguay international Nunez has registered 10 goals and eight assists in 27 appearances.
