Kalvin Phillips was caught on camera sticking his middle finger up at West Ham United supporters following the Hammers' defeat to Newcastle United. The on-loan
Manchester City midfielder has struggled to impress for David Moyes' side this season, losing his place in the
England squad . Halfway into the second-half of West Ham's clash against the Magpies at St James' Park on Saturday afternoon, Phillips was brought on to replace Michail Antonio . With the Hammers leading 3-1 and Eddie Howe's side dropping like flies, Moyes looked to rest his talisman ahead of a difficult clash against
Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday evening. But upon the England international's introduction in Tyneside, the east Londoners lost control of the game. Shortly after coming on, Phillips was adjudged to have fouled Anthony Gordon, gifting Newcastle the opportunity to mount a comeback with a spot-kick. READ MORE: Sergio Aguero names

Pep Guardiola loves Alexander Isak pulled one back for the Magpies from 12 yards. A few minutes later, the
Sweden international found a pocket of space between Phillips and Tomas Soucek in the middle of the park before threading Harvey Barnes in behind the West Ham backline. The former Leicester City winger latched onto Isak's pass and equalised. Then, in the dying embers of the clash, Barnes slalomed past the Manchester City midfielder on the edge of the box before whipping the ball into the bottom corner past Lukasz Fabianski. After the game, a handful of fans congregated outside the stadium and waited for the West Ham players to get on the team coach. As Phillips emerged, the Hammers supporters began heckling him with one branding him 'useless'. Once on the coach, he turned and aimed his middle finger at the West Ham fans to which they then shouted, "get out". Speaking to reporters after the game, Moyes conceded that Phillips' introduction 'didn't work'. "The [second] penalty kick [awarded for Phillips' foul on Gordon on 77 minutes] is a huge turning point, but I also thought we made a change because we felt as if they had got on top and missed a couple of chances," said the Scotsman. "We tried to give ourselves another midfield player at 3-1 up and we didn't want to wait for it to get to 3-2. "Probably that decision didn't work on the day, but more importantly I think the boy puts his foot in front of Kalvin and I don't know how he's supposed to see his leg. The penalty kick makes it 3-2 and we had been doing okay. "We gave up a couple of chances before that which I didn't like and they had started to get some control
shooting down the hill, but we had another day when very few things went for us. We got ourselves in front and did a lot of good things "We looked a real threat in our attacking play for most of the day. We just couldn't be defensively sound and, let's be fair, we've had that issue many times already this season." Get City transfer updates on WhatsApp!
