Actress Christina Applegate has shared a heartbreaking update after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. The Married With Children and Dead To Me actress, 51, announced in 2021 that she had been diagnosed with the devastating disease , and now walks with a cane . She regularly talks about life with MS , which affects the brain and spinal cord and can cause problems with muscle control, vision, balance and cognitive abilities. Now Christina has revealed she is suffering with 30 lesions on her brain, including one behind her eye causing her a lot of pain. She appeared on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast where she described the condition as the ‘worst thing’ that has ever happened to her. ‘I have 30 lesions on my brain, sores. My biggest one is behind my right eye, so my right eye hurts a lot,’ she said. It’s not currently affecting her vision, but is affecting her mobility, as she said ‘my hand starts to go weird and then I’ll get a seizure-y feeling in my brain, but not all the time.’ ‘I’m just sitting here with 30 lesions on my brain. It’s a fun one to hang with.’ ‘We’re prolonging life with these treatments, it doesn’t mean I’ll be around in 10 years. I don’t know. That’s the scary thing about MS, there is no endgame.’ From the NHS, MS is a condition affecting the brain and spinal cord, affecting balance and vision. It’s a lifelong condition which effects people differently, ranging from mild symptoms to serious disability, and can be progressive. Symptoms include: ‘I hate it so much, I’m so mad about it, you can’t overcome it. You can’t exercise – the second my feet hit my carpet in the morning and they’re hurting as bad as mine do every day, you go f**k it and go back to bed. ‘I’m being the worst MSer. We should be stretching, we should be trying to walk for five minutes. So I beat myself up about that.’ She called MS a ‘b***h’ and a ‘c**t,’ adding ‘she is a mean girl.’ Sticking with her sense of humour however, she joked she now ‘has better parking than all of you.’ 90s

cancer, undergoing a double mastectomy in 2008, and maintained a positive public persona throughout it all. However she admitted on the podcast this wasn’t entirely true and she was being a ‘good girl’ for the cameras, asking ‘what was I thinking?’ ‘I’m sitting there lying my ass off about how I felt. I got up and literally fell into the wall. And sobbed because it was a lie, everything I was saying was a freaking lie. ‘It was me trying to convince myself of something.’ She said she ‘did a good thing’ by setting up a foundation and raising millions for

And I wish that I had said that.’ ‘I don’t want that woman who’s feeling like that to think, “but Christina Applegate loves her boobies.” I don’t love my boobies. I don’t have nipples. I can wear a tank top … and nobody will ever know I’m cold.’ Christina appeared at the Sag Awards last year using a cane printed with the words ‘FU MS,’ and admitted she believed the final season of Netflix’s Dead To Me would likely be her last time acting. ‘Right now, I couldn’t imagine getting up at 5 am and spending 12 to 14 hours on a set; I don’t have that in me at this moment.’ Christina instead has plans to explore different opportunities in the future, such as doing a ‘ton of voiceovers to make some cash to make sure that my daughter’s fed and we’re homed’.
