Romelu Lukaku took a thinly veiled dig at
Chelsea ’s key decision makers when asked if had been keen to impress them during
Belgium ’s 2-2 draw against
England . The much travelled striker impressed at Wembley last night with the Red Devils denied a morale-boosting victory only by a late Jude Bellingham equaliser. Lukaku’s work for the evening was done by the time the
Real Madrid star draw Gareth Southgate’s men level, much to the relief of Lewis Dunk who endured a torrid 83 minutes up against the experienced striker. It was Lukaku’s persistence that saw Dunk panic and concede possession deep in England territory 10 minutes before half time which presented the Belgium forward with the opportunity to provide a delicious assist, with the outside of his left boot, for Youri Tielemans to score his second goal of the game. Lukaku, currently on loan at Roma, is still contracted to Chelsea but it would take a huge U-turn for the Blues to reintegrate him, despite their apparrent need for a new striker. Nicolas Jackson has shown flashes of potential since his summer move from Villarreal, but fellow new recruit Christopher Nkunku has managed only 10 appearances following a series of injury issues. After his eye-catching display, Lukaku was asked by Sky Sports whether he wants to impress whenever he plays in England. ð£ï¸ “You’ll have to ask Chelsea” ð Romelu Lukaku on whether he “wanted to impress” after returning to England for the first time since his loan spell with Roma ð§ðª pic.twitter.com/f7AF1ZTuyI Lukaku laughed in a dismissive
fashion and responded: ‘You’ll have to ask Chelsea.’ ‘Yeah, this is
Football at the end of the day,’ Lukaku added when asked if he was disappointed at the concession of such a late goal. ‘It’s not over until the referee blows his whistle. You have to continue, this is a team in progress. We did an okay performance today.’ Bellingham, meanwhile, was full of praise for his side’s never-say-die attitude after saving England from defeat. Fellow full debutants Ezri Konsa and, in particular, 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo also impressed in a friendly that ended all square. Bayern Munich make approach to sign Chelsea star in £35m deal

I know people will be negative but you have to take these games for what they are. ‘You’ve got to keep perspective. We had a lot of lads making debuts (this week) and a lot of lads I’ve never played with. We created a lot of chances. I should have scored (previously).
