Keith Urban is bringing his The Voice Australia chops from down under to the States. On Monday,
NBC announced that the country superstar will be joining Season 25 of The Voice as a mega mentor for the performers headed to the knockout stage of the competition. He’ll join current coaches Dan + Shay, John Legend, Chance the
Rapper, and Reba McEntire in helping out the new cohort of competitors. Urban, a The Voice veteran, joined former coach Blake Shelton as an advisor on Season 15, and was a coach on three seasons of Australia’s version of the show. A post shared by NBC's The Voice (@nbcthevoice) The “mega mentor” title is often reserved for major celebrities who join the competition. In the past, Dua Lipa,
Selena Gomez, Missy Elliott, Céline Dion, and Camila Cabello have joined The Voice as such. Aside from The Voice , Urban has experience with another competition show,
American Idol , where he served as a judge for three seasons and also appeared as a mentor. Earlier this month, The Voice judges performed a cover of “Put a Little Love in Your Heart” backed by a massive choir. ( Rolling Stone exclusively premiered the performance.)
