Gwyneth Paltrow, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Olivia Munn react to Kate Middleton’s cancer news: ‘The world is with you’
Some of Hollywood’s biggest names are speaking out in the wake of Kate Middleton’s shock cancer diagnoses. The Princess of Wales, 42, revealed the heartbreaking news in a video message Friday, saying she is now undergoing chemotherapy. Following the announcement, a slew of stars took to Social Media to send their love and support to the British royal, including Oscar winner Catherine Zeta-Jones. “Wales and the World is with you ♥️ HRH Princess of Wales. Love to you always,” the Welsh-born “Chicago” Actress wrote on Instagram . Gwyneth Paltrow also sent her well-wishes in a sweet message shared on the princess’s official Instagram page. “A pillar of grace and strength! Sending love,” the “Shakespeare In Love” star penned. Meanwhile, actress and fellow cancer sufferer Olivia Munn praised the princess for her bravery in a post published on Instagram. “Thank you for showing what it’s like to fight with grace and determination for yourself and for your family. Wishing you all the best. 🤍🤍🤍,” she wrote. “Sleepless In Seattle” star Rita Wilson, who has also battled cancer, similarly shared her support for Kate, writing: “I hope you all send your prayers and good thoughts to Kate for a cancer free future!” Just hours before Kate revealed her diagnosis, Oscar-winner Jamie-Lee Curtis took to Instagram to rail against the wild rumors regarding the royal’s health, writing: “Can we please just STOP with this bulls–t conspiracy theory? This is a human being with young children, and clearly some sort of a health issue. That is a private matter.” After Kate shared her health struggles, Curtis returned to social media, urging fans to give the princess privacy. “Princess Kate has told us about her health and now we should send nothing but our best wishes to her and her family,” she wrote. Maria Shriver shared similar sentiments. “I hope everyone will leave her alone and allow the privacy she and her family need,” the Kennedy scion wrote. “Now is a time of healing and hope. Now is a time to pray for health. And let this be a reminder that we never know what someone is going through. Let us keep walking through the world with compassion, and rather than assuming the worst, just offer kindness.” A post shared by Jamie Lee Curtis (@jamieleecurtis) In addition to celebrities, politicians from across the globe spoke out in support of Kate. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak took to X saying the entire United Kingdom was behind the popular princess. “My thoughts are with the Princess of Wales, Prince of Wales, the Royal Family and in particular her three children at this difficult time,” he said. “The Princess of Wales has the love and support of the whole country as she continues her recovery. She has shown tremendous bravery with her statement today.” Meanwhile, Canadian prime Minister Justin Trudeau wrote on X : “My thoughts are with the Princess of Wales, her children, and the entire Royal Family following the news of her cancer so courageously shared. On behalf of Canadians, I’m sending my support as she undergoes treatment. We’re all wishing her a swift recovery.” “Jill and I join millions around the world in praying for your full recovery, Princess Kate,” President Joe Biden shared on X. first lady Jill Biden also shared her own sweet tribute, writing: “You are brave and we love you.” Princess Kate was admitted to the hospital for “planned abdominal surgery” in January. After her “successful” procedure, cancer was found following medical tests which required a round of “preventative” chemotherapy. “This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” the royal said in her video message released on Friday. “Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.” She concluded: “My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery. At this time, I am also thinking of all those whose lives have been affected by cancer. For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone.” Following the news, King Charles III released a statement about his daughter-in-law. A Buckingham Palace spokesperson told the Post that the monarch is “so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did.” Charles, who is undergoing treatment for his own cancer diagnosis, has “remained in the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks.” Additionally, he and Queen Camilla “will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time.” When Kensington Palace announced on Jan. 17 that Middleton was in the hospital, they noted that she would return to public duties around Easter time. “ The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate,” the memo went on. “She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible.” They added that they hope the public respects “her wish that her personal medical information remain private.”
