Chantelle Houghton has been celibate for two years and has officially given up on finding love. The Celebrity Big Brother winner famously fell in love with her co-star Samuel Preston in the house, but she’s closing the chapter on relationships after too many bad experiences. She has become so disillusioned with the dating scene that being single has become the desirable option. Chantelle is actively avoiding unfaithful partners, bad dates, and ‘creeps’. ‘The dating landscape has completely changed; decency seems to have gone out of the window, and in all honesty, after a series of heartbreaks, cheating partners, and disastrous dates, I’ve now given up looking for love,’ the 40-year-old explained. ‘Don’t even get me started on the creeps who approach me on
Social Media with sexually inappropriate messages. ‘Where have all the gentlemen gone? Chivalry appears to be dead and I’d much rather go through the rest of my life single than settle for someone who makes me miserable,’ she added to The Sun . The final straw came about a year ago when she matched with a man on a dating app and agreed to meet him for lunch in a posh restaurant. Chantelle claims he selected a full meal and drank a ‘gallon’ of wine while she had a small sandwich and tap water, but he still expected her to pick up the whole bill. The cheek, the nerve, the gall, the audacity, and the gumption! Chantelle rightly summarised that she ‘deserves more’. Sacrificing any chance of intimacy hasn’t got her feeling down, it’s actually done the exact opposite with Chantelle crediting it with improving her quality of life. The reality star feels ‘happier than ever’ now she’s not doing date nights with unappealing men. After two years of celibacy, she feels ’empowered, independent, and free’. Chantelle isn’t up for finding ‘the one’, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to give up sex. However, one-night stands are not an enjoyable option for her as she considers the act to go ‘hand-in-hand with a relationship’. Before closing herself off from dating, Chantelle was in a relationship with fellow Celebrity Big Brother champion Alex Reid. The former couple have daughter Dolly, now 11, together and she has found an extra benefit to deleting dating apps – there aren’t lots of different men coming in and out of her little girl’s life. Her time in the house will forever go down in the Big Brother history books, as she is the only non-celebrity to win the celebrity version. To stay in the house, she was given a secret task to convince her housemates, including Jodie Marsh , the late Pete Burns , and of course, Preston, that she was famous. This included performing her fake single I Want It All, which she allegedly released with her girl band Kandy Floss. She successfully passed, which meant she could stick around and fall for Preston! Now, Chantelle is an avid Big Brother viewer, and she has two major criticisms of the series. Got a story?
