Beauty influencer Ethan is Supreme’s father has confirmed that the 17 year old passed away yesterday, with the online makeup community paying tribute to the late star.
The beauty guru, whose real name is
Ethan Peters, was known for his eerie yet glamorous make-up looks and has been remembered by fellow online personalities including Tana Mongeau, Jeffree Star and Manny MUA.
His father, Gerald Peters, told Fox News that Peters was found yesterday morning in his bathroom and said he believed a drug overdose led to his passing - however no cause of death has been confirmed at this time.
His close friend, influencer Ava Louise, also paid tribute to the star on social media. Calling him her “best friend in the entire world”, she said, “We had our last FaceTime call last night and I am so so so sorry I cut it short. I can’t breathe. This is the worst pain I ever felt. I've lost friends but never a best friend.”
“Ethan saw me through my lows and celebrated my highs with me. He was so much more than what you all saw online. His amazing parents have been parents to me when mine haven’t been the best, so please respect their privacy at this time,” she continued.
Louise also revealed on Twitter she “had to pull Ethan aside in recent weeks and have talks with him about his usage”, saying that a week ago he had told her he “wanted help.” She said, “Everyone close to him was scared. I just wish I f**king tried harder I f**king wish I yelled at him more I wish I didn’t enable a single pill he popped.”
Urging others to “snap your friends out of it before it’s [too] late”, she encouraged others to seek help for their addiction.
Peters has previously been at the centre of controversy online after being accused of making racist and transphobic remarks. His father continued that “cancel culture” had “weighed heavy on his heart.” He told Fox News, “He wanted nothing but to inspire, make people laugh and push the boundaries of what is acceptable in our world for All young people. He was [a] kind soul, who accepted everyone for who they were."
Influencers such as Star and Manny MUA paid tribute to Peters, but also addressed his history and abusive messages that had been posted in the wake of his passing.
Manny MUA tweeted, “rest in peace ethan @trashqueenethan you were so incredibly talented at such a young age. i know he’s made many many mistakes... but to say he deserved to pass away is horrible and inhuman. i pray for his family and loved ones, a horrible loss.”
Star said, “Yesterday the makeup community lost someone: EthanisSupreme. Regardless of someone’s history or past, regardless of that I had to check out of Twitter yesterday because there was people revelling and enjoying someone passing away and I just had to turn off my phone.”
Mongeau also shared a previous post of her with Peters, writing, “rip angel. my heart goes out to his family and friends. if u need anything reach out please.”
