We never expected Marge Simpson to get involved in politics, but this is 2020 and so yeah, literally nothing surprises us any more.
The Simpsons matriarch felt compelled to speak out after Donald Trump’s campaign adviser Jenna Ellis said newly-appointed
Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris sounded like everybody’s favourite blue-haired “suburban housewife” (Marge’s words).
The war of words kicked off on Wednesday when Ellis tweeted: “Kamala sounds like Marge Simpson.”Kamala sounds like Marge Simpson.— Jenna Ellis (@JennaEllisEsq) August 12, 2020How terribly grown up.
Marge evidently wasn’t having any of it and has now fired back in a specially recorded video, saying she feels “disrespected”.“I usually don’t get into politics,” Marge begins. “But the president’s senior adviser Jenna Ellis just said Kamala Harris sounds like me.
“Lisa said she doesn’t mean it as a compliment. If that’s so, as an ordinary suburban housewife, I’m starting to feel a little disrespected.
“I teach my children not to name-call, Jenna.”
Yeah Jenna.
Marge signs off: “I was gonna say I’m pissed off, but I’m afraid they’d bleep it” (They didn’t).
