Government rules about sport’s return may appear just two days before racing’s return but the BHA remains confident
“The long break is nearly over,” horse racing’s followers were assured by the ruling body on Friday as frantic preparations continued for the planned resumption at Newcastle in just three days’ time. But still the government has given no formal indication as to whether it is content for the sport to resume, an omission that continues to cause much nervousness, including among trainers.
“When you start thinking through it, any delay now would be absolutely catastrophic,” said Mark Johnston, who has sent out more winners than any other
British trainer in the sport’s history.
