This Morning contributor Nicola Throp gave hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield a reason to laugh as she appeared on the show from her canal boat on Wednesday.
The former Coronation Street star came a cropper while getting ready to appear on the ITV daytime show, crashing her boat into a bush.
And while the accident didn’t take place live on air, Phil and Holly had great pleasure in playing it after the camera had captured the moment. Nicola could be seen scrambling back on deck as trees and bushes brushed over the top of the boat, knocking the camera in the process.
“Oh my god I’m so sorry! We’re going to crash!” Nicola shouted. Living on a houseboat is all fun and games... until you crash into a bush, right @nicolathorp_? 😂Watch the moment again on ITV Hub 👉https://t.co/Q7IV485mUnpic.twitter.com/59V6QzEunv— This Morning (@thismorning) May 20, 2020She later joked with Holly and Phil that she’d “nearly killed” Steve the camera man – but admitted that isn’t the only incident she’s had with her boat, which she lives in on the
London canals.
She said: “As you can tell I’m not very good at it three years in. I had a half an hour lesson with the guy who sold the boat, and then it was a case of
YouTube tutorials.
“Yes I’ve fallen in once, I’ve jumped in twice to save two iPhones. But it’s all part of the fun.”
Nicola, who played Nicola Rubinstein on Corrie until 2019, also revealed she bought the canal boat while drunk.
“I always wanted to live on a canal boat and one night I made a bid on eBay after a bottle of wine,” she told the presenters. “I woke up with a hangover and a six foot narrow boat! So that’s it. I live on a boat now.”
