A juror in the
Harvey Weinstein trial is speaking out, saying that despite his predatory sexual assault acquittal, much of the jury found Annabella Sciorra's testimony convincing.Weinstein on Monday was convicted on two charges in his
New York rape trial that could land him up to 29 years behind bars, but he was acquitted on the two most serious charges of predatory sexual assault. Sciorra, who alleges Weinstein raped her in 1993 or 1994, testified in support of these charges, and a predatory sexual assault conviction could have gotten Weinstein up to a life sentence. In an interview with Inside Edition, a Weinstein juror whose name wasn't revealed spoke about the acquittal on the charges that had to do with Sciorra."I wouldn't say that it wasn't convincing," the juror said of Sciorra's testimony. "It was very much convincing to a lot of the jurors.'Prior to reaching its verdict, the jury had revisited Sciorra's testimony and asked the judge if it could be hung on the predatory sexual assault charges, only to reach its verdict after returning on Monday. Weinstein was ultimately convicted on charges involving Mimi Haleyi's testimony that he forcibly performed oral sex on her and Jessica Mann's testimony that he raped her."I feel like the way things went for her, it was wrong," said the juror of Sciorra. "It was very much so wrong, and I just feel like hopefully with the verdict that we gave, she feels and she has some type of closure."Sciorra herself spoke out after the verdict on Monday, saying that "while we hope for continued righteous outcomes that bring absolute justice, we can never regret breaking the silence."
