U.S. Ambassador John Bass left
Kabul on Monday as his two-year tenure as America's top diplomat in war-torn
Afghanistan ended.
Until Bass' replacement is decided,
Washington is appointing a chargé d'affaires to the post, according to a statement from the U.S. State Department.
Ross Wilson, who has served as America's ambassador to
Turkey and Azerbaijan, is expected in the Afghan capital in the coming weeks.
