Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders had said Hill's comments were a "fireable offense."
ESPN Sportscenter host Jemele Hill addressed the growing controversy of her comment describing President Donald Trump as a "white supremacist."ESPN had distanced themselves from Hill's Tuesday tweet storm in which she described Trump as a "bigot," "ignorant" and a "white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself with other white supremacists." However, the issue became a hot topic again on Wednesday at the White House daily briefing when Press Sec. Sarah Huckabee Sanders suggested Hill's comments were "outrageous" and a "fireable offense."
Sanders' comments led to a storm of renewed media scrutiny and Hill responded late on Wednesday, tweeting a short statement:
"My comments on Twitter expressed my personal beliefs. My regret is that my comments and the public way I made them painted ESPN in unfair light. My respect for the company and my colleagues remains unconditional."
