Libya's coast guard said Monday it intercepted dozens of Europe-bound migrants off the country's Mediterranean coast the previous day.
A rubber boat with 53 African migrants, including 14 women and two children, was stopped off Libya's western town of Abu-Kemmash, about 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) from Tunisia, said the coast guard spokesman, Ayoub Gassim.
Libya has emerged as a major transit point for migrants fleeing war and poverty to Europe.
