Tens-of-thousands of people have taken to the streets of central
London in order to demand a final say on Brexit, bringing them to the doorstep of the Commons where MPs are preparing to vote on Boris Johnson’s deal.
Effigies of the Prime Minister and his senior adviser Dominic Cummings were on show during the demonstration, attended by famous faces including Star Trek actor Sir Patrick Stewart. The float depicting Cummings and Johnson had been driven by 67-year-old Phil Jeanes from the group EU Flag Mafia, from Dusseldorf in
Germany on Thursday night.
Campaigners have set out in force to demand a final say on
Brexit numerous times before, but as these pictures show, they haven’t yet run out of snappy slogans to proudly display as they march.
We took a look at the wittiest, most elaborate, and perhaps disturbing placards dreamt up by People’s Vote supporters on show.
This sign, which manages to tick the boxes of
British humour, insulting slogan, and impressively elaborate design all at once:What a sign#PeoplesVoteMarchpic.twitter.com/77Y2jLWqjh— Kieran Henn (@kierz1080) October 19, 2019Perhaps in an attempt to balance some of the slightly stronger sentiments on show, a bit of good old fashioned humour made it into the mix:Loads of great signs here at #PeoplesVoteMarch#PeoplesVote today.
