Strictly Come Dancing’s Craig Revel Horwood was unusually speechless during Saturday night’s live show after making a gaffe about Anton Du Beke’s teeth.
The judge mistook the pro dancer’s own knashers for a set of fake ones after he dressed up as Austin Powers for the show’s Movie Week special.
Craig was critiquing Anton and his partner EastEnders star Emma Barton, after they had performed a Salsa to Soul Bossa Nova from the Austin Powers films, when he made the blunder. “I was slightly distracted by the wig and the fake teeth you have in,” he remarked.
Anton responded: “They’re not fake by the way, they’re all my own, dear,” but Craig appeared not to have heard him and carried on with his comments.
Host Tess Daly, who was in hysterics, then clarified Anton wasn’t wearing any fake teeth.
Craig was left absolutely stunned as the audience roared with laughter.
““They’re not fake? Oh, God. Really?”” a shocked Craig said. “Sorry Anton, I really...
“Sorry. It’s because of the wig and the glasses and everything,” he laughed.🤣The teeth are real. The moment Craig Revel Horwood thought Anton Du Beke had Austin Powers pearly whites. pic.twitter.com/X35J6dHFW8—
BBC Strictly ✨ (@bbcstrictly) October 5, 2019As Anton and Emma joined co-host Claudia Winkleman for a chat after their performance, he said: “I’d like to say I’d never been so offended but that wouldn’t be true darling.”
Claudia added: “They’re gorgeous. I’ve never seen Craig cry with laughter and Tess properly went too.”Emma and Anton ended up scoring 27 points for their dance, landing around the middle of the leaderboard.
Kelvin Fletcher was the biggest scorer of the night after he awarded the first 10s of the series when his Charleston to Trip A Little Light Fantastic from the film Mary Poppins Returns, scored a whopping 38 points.
Craig’s gaffe was not the only blunder of the evening though, as pro dancer Katya Jones fell over twice during the live show, forcing her to address speculation she was drunk.
