An engineer has died at Waterloo Station on Wednesday morning as he carried out work on a moving walkway.
British Transport
police (BTP) are investigating the death, which is not thought to be suspicious.A
London Ambulance Spokesperson said: “We were called today at 2.23am to reports of an incident at Waterloo Road, SE1.“We dispatched a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a medic in a response car, a team leader, an advanced paramedic and our hazardous area response team (HART). We also sent London’s Air Ambulance.“Sadly, despite the efforts of medics, a man died at the scene.”
Shortly before 5.30am, Transport for London (TfL) advised passengers they would be unable to change lines at the station because of a fault with one of the two travelators.
Later on, the official Jubilee Line
Twitter account advised passengers that a one-way system had been implemented at the station due to an ongoing police investigation, with customers advised to avoid the interchange where possible.A TfL spokesperson said: “We are working with colleagues in the
