Tony Hall believes arrival of new streaming services by likes of
Disney will be opportunity for the broadcaster
BBC director-general Tony Hall believes that the television industry is about to enter “a second wave of disruption” because of new entrants in the streaming market.
However, Lord Hall said the changes presented an opportunity for the
BBC and that people would still choose it for “ethical reasons”. He believed the main impact of newcomers such as Disney and
Apple could be on established services such as
Amazon and Netflix.
