A man has been charged with supplying drugs to musician Mac Miller two days before he died of an overdose at the age of 26 last year.
Man Charged With Selling Fatal Counterfeit Pills To Rapper Mac Miller
According to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Cameron James Pettit has been charged with one count of distribution of a controlled substance.
It’s alleged that Pettit had agreed to supply Miller with 30 milligram oxycodone pills in the days before his death, as well as cocaine and the anti-anxiety medication Xanax. However, he’s believed to have sold the musician pulls containing fentanyl, an opioid 50 times more potent than heroin.
Miller – real name Malcolm James McCormick – was found dead at his home in September last year, with a coroner later ruling that the cause of death was an accidental overdose.
He was found to have had fentanyl in his system at the time of his death, as well as alcohol and cocaine.
It was well-known that Miller suffered with substance abuse issues, which he often referred to in his music, including on his final album Swimming, released a month before he died.
Four months before his death, he had been arrested for driving under the influence, after writing off his car and fleeing the scene.
Among those to pay tribute was Miller’s ex-girlfriend, Ariana Grande, who he had been in a relationship with for two years until their break-up in May 2018, two weeks before his DUI arrest.
In the weeks that followed, a tribute concert was held in Miller’s honour at the Greek Theatre in LA, featuring performances from stars including Pharrell Williams, Childish Gambino and John Mayer.READ MORE...
