Fox Business host Stuart Varney insisted in a Friday interview that
President Trump has never lied a single time.Joe Walsh, the former congressman who's challenging Trump for the 2020
Republican nomination, was a guest on Varney's Trump-friendly show and seemed to set the host off when he said the president lies and "you know that," Mediaite reports. Actually, Varney defensively responded, "I do not know that."Growing angry at the mere suggestion that Trump has ever been dishonest, Varney demanded Walsh provide him an example, to which Walsh cited a very recent one: a
CNN report that Trump's aides have privately admitted he made up "high-level" phone calls with
China and was actually conflating comments from China's vice premier in order to boost the stock market. This, Varney insisted, doesn't count."That's not a lie," Varney said. "Let's not get technical."Walsh was puzzled by this logic and proceeded to outright ask if Varney thinks the president has ever lied. "No," Varney responded. "He exaggerates and spins."Varney's comments echo those made by numerous Trump's aides this week. Campaign spokesperson Kayleigh McEnany recently argued to CNN's Chris Cuomo that Trump has never lied and
White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham said the same in an interview with The
Washington Post.Watch Walsh's unsuccessful attempt to convince Varney below.
