Friends co-hosts were discussing it on that morning's show. But Trump didn't seem to realize that less than 12 hours earlier, McCarthy suggested in a tweet that Trump's recent handling of relations with
China might make him vote for a Democrat for the first time since 1992.McCarthy has a long history in
Republican politics and writes for the conservative National Review. His recently published book Ball of Collusion boldly claims that "the real collusion in the 2016
election was not between the
Trump campaign and the Kremlin. It was between the Clinton campaign and the Obama administration," per the book's description. Yet that didn't stop McCarthy from hinting that — just like he did after former President George H.W. Bush's response to the Tiananmen Square
protests — he'd switch his vote blue in the next election.
Trump, mostly borrowing the words of his favorite morning show hosts, still gave the book a stellar review on Thursday morning.
