ACCC chairman Rod Sims says
Facebook should have removed the bogus death tax claims in circulation during the May federal election
Australia’s competition regulator Rod Sims says Facebook has the capability to deal with the proliferation of
fake news on the platform, but the social media behemoth is instead “palming off responsibility” to protect its bottom line.
In an interview with Guardian Australia, the ACCC chairman says the social media giant should have removed the bogus death tax claims in circulation during the federal
election contest in May, given its own independent fact checking processes had found the material to be false.
