The former Fox News host discussed her ousted former colleague's sexual harassment allegations with late-night host Seth Meyers on Wednesday.Megyn Kelly dropped by Late Night With Seth Meyers on Wednesday to discuss the recent revelations that Bill O’Reilly had paid a $32 million settlement for sexual harassment allegations brought against him. Kelly also discussed her own past with O’Reilly and her recent statement that she had complained about O'Reilly's behavior while she was an employee at Fox News.
When asked by Meyers about the $32 million payout by O’Reilly, Kelly said, “That’s not nuisance value. Litigations happen all the time. A lot of them are nonsense and you pay some small amount to make them go away. $32 million is a different story and he was renewed at the company after he did that."
Kelly revealed on her NBC show, Megyn Kelly Today, earlier this week that she had complained to Fox News execs about sexual harassment from O'Reilly, displaying the note she sent to Bill Shine and Jack Abernethy while discussing this weekend's New York Times report about a new sexual harassment settlement made by O'Reilly. According to the report, parent company 21st Century Fox was aware of the allegations made by, which included "repeated harassment, a nonconsensual sexual relationship and the sending of gay pornography and other sexually explicit material to her." The $32 million settlement, made in January, marks the sixth and largest agreement to settle harassment allegations against O'Reilly, who was fired in April and left the network with a $25 million payout. Fox News claims to know O'Reilly settled, but that they were unaware of the terms.
"I know that Fox said they didn’t know," Kelly told Meyers. "The question remains, why didn’t they? Why wouldn’t you know? Why wouldn’t you ask before you bring this man back into the workplace and unleash him on the workforce?”
Kelly went on to say it “was time” to make her statement. “I take no pleasure in discussing Fox News in that way because I had a lot of good years there and they’re not all bad. They’ve got some great people. He is not one of them,” Kelly said.
