A pedophile teacher who had sex with a 13 year-old boy was branded ‘foul, sick and disgusting’ by the child’s mother as she was jailed.
Brittany Zamora, 28, was sentenced to 20 years in jail during an emotional hearing at Maricopa Superior Court in
Phoenix,
Arizona, on Friday.
In a scathing victim impact statement before the sentencing, the boy’s mother, who was not named to protect his identity, said: ‘I hate you for what you did to my son and family,’ according to AZ Central reporter Bree Burkitt. ‘We should not suffer for someone else’s sick pleasure, but we all are.’
Prosecutors and the boy’s parents condemned Zamora for grooming the youngster for sex, then leaving him badly traumatized after she sexually assaulted him on at least four occasions.
His mother said: ‘She tried to groom my child into believe this behavior is okay. She’s a true definition of a child predator.’‘
Your mind is foul, your heart is sick and you disgust me! You deserve to leave prison when you’re too old to bear children.’ She then screamed: ‘You’re forever labeled a child molester and everyone hates a child molester!’ before wiping her tears with the paper with her statement. Zamora stayed silent during the diatribe, but her eyes were seen to dart from side to side while she was shouted at. After the judge sentenced the pervert teacher, giving her credit for the 500 days she has already spent in prison, the victim’s parents stormed out of the courtroom in disgust.
Before the dramatic statement, Zamora attempted to apologize to her victim and his family during Friday’s hearing in a packed courtroom. She said: ‘I am a good and genuine person who made a mistake and regret it deeply.’
Zamora, a former teacher at Las Brisas Academy, was arrested in March 2018 after she was discovered to have had sex with the boy numerous times – once in a classroom while another boy stood lookout. The witness later told police: ‘They were just doing it. It was very uncomfortable,’ according to the Arizona Republic. ‘It’s, like weird how a 27-year-old can, like, love a 13-year-old and do stuff. It’s just crazy. She’s not a good person.’
The following day, Zamora asked the witness if he could watch again, but he reportedly refused. Prosecutors said the Zamora’s abusive relationship with the boy began after she asked him to message him on a school message app, claiming she was bored – but the conversation quickly became sexual.
The boy told investigators: ‘She said she wanted to give me a blow job and my stuff is really big and stuff like that,’ later clarifying that his ‘stuff’ was his penis. Police said Zamora sexually assaulted the boy in the back of the classroom while other students watched an educational video. They also reportedly had sex in her car. The two also exchanged notes with hearts and affection sentiments like ‘U R Sexy.’
Zamora later sent nude photos to the boy – including one of herself wearing a pair of crotchless panties. The parents of the victim eventually caught on to Zamora’s illicit relationship with the boy after they installed a monitoring app on his phone and saw the messages she sent.
The boy’s parents now have lawsuits against the school seeking $2.5 million, claiming their son ‘will experience severe emotional and psychological symptoms due to the sexual abuse he experienced.’ According to the lawsuit: ‘He is different with (his mother). He no longer looks at any female including his mother the same now that Zamora has worked her black magic.’ The lawsuit also takes aim at the school district, claiming school officials knew about the abuse before the boy’s parents became aware of it. Zamora’s husband, Daniel, was also targeted by the lawsuit because he called the boy’s parent’s in an attempt to persuade them not to go to police, however the boy’s parents have since reached a settlement with Mr Zamora, according to AZ Central. The lawyer for the victim’s parents, Steve Weinberger, said: ‘The case against Daniel Zamora was, for the most part, personal to the father of the student.’ ‘He was the party on the receiving end of a very uncomfortable telephone call from Brittany and Daniel Zamora the night before her arrest.’
