Meghan Markle's dad has changed his mind and wants to go to the Royal
wedding saying "I hate the idea of missing one of the greatest moments in history".
Thomas Markle earlier said he would not come to the big event at the weekend when his daughter marries
Prince Harry. But now he said he will attend if doctors give him the all clear.
The American pulled out after he admitted arranging for paparazzi shots to be taken of him in the run up to the wedding. He also said he had a heart attack seven days ago.
But today he said: “I hate the idea of missing one of the greatest moments in history and walking my daughter down the aisle.
"Of course I'd walk her down the aisle. This is a historic moment. I'd like to be a part of history."However, he told TMZ he was back in hospital with serious chest pains. The US publication said doctors told Mr Markle his heart was "seriously damaged".
He added Meghan had tried to call him on Monday but he was not able to get to the phone.
But he said he had received a text from his daughter saying she did not blame him over the paparazzi outrage and said she loved him.
He added he did not believe the photo issue was a serious transgression but called it "stupid".
His latest comments came after Meghan reportedly urged her father to change his mind.
A friend of Ms Markle said last night: "This is not what she wants. She obviously wants her dad there.
"And the idea of contemplating him not being there now is not something that she wants to have to do."
A press release from Kensington Palace outlined Mr Markle's role in his daughter’s nuptials.
“Mr. Thomas Markle and Ms. Doria Ragland will be arriving in the UK in the week of the wedding, allowing time for Prince Harry's family, including The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, to spend time with them before the big day.”
Following Mr Markle's decision not to go to the wedding, Meghan's mother Doria Ragland became favourite to give her daughter away at St George's Chapel.
But after the latest announcement Mr Markle's odds to walk his daughter down the aisle dropped from 12/1 this morning to 1/3 this afternoon.

Life-size figures of the couple are propped up all over town, with locals and tourists tucking in to wedding cake and coffees adorned with the pair's faces.
The couple and their well-wishers will be hoping Tuesday's blue skies and balmy sunshine will stay for the wedding on Saturday.
Thousands of bubbles were pumped out through an upstairs window on a street near Windsor Castle - with bubbles of a different kind expected to be popped this weekend.
