DEMONSTRATORS voiced anger at Angela Merkel and waved placards praising Britain in a protest outside the EU summit in Estonia.
The protesters, who disturbed the arrival and statements of EU leaders in Tallinn, waved flags.
One demonstrator was seen holding a flag with the texts “Take Europe back to the seventh century again”.
While another placard said “Buy British - We love Great Britain”.
The protest, reported in Austrian website ‘News’, were seemingly directed against German Chancellor Mrs Merkel’s open door refuge policy from 2015, which allowed thousands of migrants to enter the country.
Mrs Merkel was last weekend re-elected as German leader, but with a weakened political grip.
Her Christian Democratic Union (CDU) won most of the votes in the election but she lost many seats to the Alternative for Germany (AfD).
The election results lead to AfD being the first far-right group to enter Bundestag in 72 years.
Martin Schulz, leader of Mrs Merkel’s coalition the Social Democrats Party (SPD), said the open-door policy had led to the “depressing” rise of the AfD - whose leader has made Nazi-comments.
He said: "It is clear accepting more than one milion refugees in our country is still dividing the country.“
Mr Schulz said his party had no choice but to go into opposition “to defend democracy against those who question it and attack it”, after low election results.
On Tuesday, Mrs Merkel admitted “polarising” Germany with her refugee policy.
She said: "We have started to analyse the voters we lost, especially with regards to those who went on to vote for the AfD.
“We want to get them back by good politics and addressing some of the issues.”
Mrs Merkel will stay on for a fourth term as leader but is tasked with putting together a new coalition, most likely with both the pro-business FDP and Green party.
