Madrid was plunged into
CHAOS on Thursday as riots broke out following the death of a street vendor who reportedly suffered a heart attack while being chased by Spanish police.
The protestors took to the streets of Madrid between 9pm and 1:30am (CET) and caused large-scale destruction in one part of the city – damaging bus shelters, patrol cars and shops.
Shock footage from Lavapies neighbourhood of Madrid shows the region lit up in flames as protestors rebelled at police.
Firefighters were brought in to put out flames throughout the neighbourhood after furious protesters torched bins and reaped havoc on the city.
Spanish police responded to the riots with charges and rubber bullets and six Spanish people were arrested, according to El Pais.

The protests began following the death of 35-year-old street hawker Mame Mbaye who died on Thursday after suffering a cardiac arrest.

The street vendor died just before 5:00pm at No. 10, Calle del Oso.
An emergency services call was made by local police officers in the area and according to the official police report, the officers had found a man lying on the ground not breathing.
The local police officers reportedly attempted to resuscitate Mr Mbaye until emergency services arrived at the scene.
Madrid Mayor Manuela Carmena insisted there will be an investigation into the incident.
