David Beckham has announced the launch of his MLS Miami team in a press conference today.
The legendary footballer has been working hard for a number of years trying to make his dream into a reality and it was finally confirmed in front of a packed audience this afternoon.
Don Garber, Commissioner of Major League Soccer, called it a ‘historic day’ at the start of the event, as the league prepares to introduce its newest expansion team.
So what do we know about his new team so far?
What will the team be called?A name and logo has yet to be revealed for the new team, but like most MLS teams we can expect Miami to be included within the name.
Where will the new team play?The team will be playing at a newly built stadium that is set to seat 25,000 people.
It is set to be located in Overtown, Miami after permissions were finally secured after an number of legal challenges from various opposition.
While it does still need to obtain zoning approval, David Beckham is confident that the location will now be secured without further problems.
